About The Closet Chaos
Growing up, my mom loved dressing me up — and I loved dressing up my Barbies. Fashion has been my favourite form of self expression for as long as I can remember. It is creativity, confidence and individuality all in one.
When I moved to Jaipur after marriage, I immediately had access and exposure to beautiful traditional textiles and intricate heirloom techniques — handcrafted kantha quilted from layers of vintage cotton saris, hand-stitched running stitch by running stitch by the most skilled artisan hands. Lush velvets finished with Suzani embroidery, bold and expressive and completely one of a kind. I was in awe. I was inspired. I knew I had found something the world needed to see.
On moving to Toronto I realised how much the world could use colour. I love my sweats and super puffs, but there is something about a handcrafted kantha jacket that has been passed down through generations, or the touch of rich velvet that is cozy and warm and alive — that made me want to bring both my worlds together.
The Closet Chaos is my way of telling the world there is no one way of being.
A woman is allowed to be this, and that, and everything else she wishes to be. She is allowed to be an amalgamation of all that she loves — making her the museum that carries everything that makes her, well, her.
Every piece in our collection is handmade in India by skilled artisans keeping age-old craft traditions alive. No two pieces are ever the same. When it sells, it's gone forever. That's not a limitation — that's the whole point.
Our first collection is called Her.
Her is a dedication to all the wonderful women in my life who have expanded my world — not because of what they bring me, but because of who they are. Their magic, their colours, their chaos — it has all allowed me to grow in mine too.
Each jacket in the Her collection is named after a woman. Because every piece, like every woman, deserves to be seen.
We ship handcrafted kantha jackets, velvet jackets and khadi jackets to Canada, the United States and India. Every piece is free size, reversible where noted, and made to be worn your way.
Stay Chaotic, my loves. Because if not now, then when?
